I have two blog, http://venomaxus.wordpress.com & the new one http://imo.thejakartapost.com/venomaxus . Both of that blog are created based on my interest at social and political phenomenon. The first one (www.venomaxus.wordpress.com) are written in bahasa Indonesia, my national language and the other one are written in English. The Indonesian blog was created two years ago and I always promote that blog to Indonesian citizen journalism website such as www.lintasberita.com or www.infogue.com . But the traffic visitor to my website are still stagnant, of if there are an improvement it only increase approximately 100 or 200 visitor per month. And now, the sums of all visitors are only 5600 people since the first time I created it. And the sad news is the fact that my blog almost never get any rating (by visitor polling) in that citizen journalism websites. That means most of readers doesn’t like at all with what I had written

Meanwhile, my brand new blog in English can gain a lot of interest from foreigners in less than 2 weeks. Moreover, some of them ask to put my article at their website and others are asking me to put RSS feed in my blog home. And also few of them share my article on their facebook, adding me as their friend and sending me message whether do I have another interesting article to publish or not. In fact, my English blog is only translation results from my Indonesian blog, thus, the content of those blogs are similarly same. And surprisingly, I receive a lot ping back from various foreign website! And of course my ability to write in Indonesian is far better than my English.
Most of my blog articles are telling about political and social condition of my country (Indonesia), but some others are telling about general social condition all whole the world. I don’t know, maybe Indonesian are less interested in such issue. As I can see, Indonesian are more interested to tech blog which discuss about most hi-tech gadget, popular device and something like that. Indonesian are also more interested in tutorial blogs for instance: “How to keep your PC run faster”, “How to clean your hard disk”, “Steps to make your cell phone looks better” or something else. Indonesian are also interested in unique or awkward news such as “A new habitable planet has been found!” , “The appearance of White Crocodile has reported in nearby river” and others. And one of unique characteristic of Indonesian are their interest to superstitious creatures such as ghost, Satan and demon (according to Indonesian google favorite keywords).
But would stop writing blog because of that? No, I wouldn’t. I writing blog not because economic motivation (that why you can’t found commercial advertisement in my blogs) but I do it because I believe that issue is crucial matter to this country progress. And maybe because politic and social issue is a topic that I understand very well since I am a student of social and political science. Maybe all I have to do is only improving my language style to attract more people, isn’t right? :)
